 The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival, has announced its dates and theaters for 2014 and is currently accepting theatre submissions through January 18th, 2014. Running from May 12th through June 8th, the 2014 festivity is scheduled to take place at the Paradise Factory located at 64 East 4th Street b/t Bowery and 2nd Ave.
Fostering a diverse cross-section of performances and events, the Festivity seeks to inspire artists and audiences both creatively and fundamentally, in a festive atmosphere. At the heart of the Festivity are like-minded individuals striving to create professional, meaningful theatre, music and film, while supporting organizations which give back to the community at large. During the Festivity, each show and event partners with a charity and some of the ways they offer support are soliciting donations at shows, holding special benefit performances, fundraisers and/or talkbacks after performances with charity representatives. Some of these organizations include RAINN, Mercy Center, the Innocence Project, the Long Island Crisis Center, Children's Aid Society, More Gardens!, the National Arthritis Foundation and the National Eating Disorder Association. "Green Theatre" is also an important aspect of Planet Connections; each year they educate participating artists on how they can make a difference by continuing to create great art while reducing their carbon footprint. The festivity is open to musicals, full length plays, new works, adaptations, one-acts, solo-shows, experimental work, and devised dance and staged readings.  Fenny hails from the tropical country in South East Asia called Indonesia. She came to New York a little over two years ago to pursue acting. She recently graduated from The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in NYC. Her recent credits include Intoxicating Reads: The Merry Wives of Windsor (True False Theater), Dream of a Butterfly (Columbia MFA) and Mr.X (LIC One-Act Festival). She is grateful to be working with such amazing playwright, directors and cast members of The Procedure. Where did you go to school? I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. Had my degree in Economics and came to New York to study acting at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting. What is your show about? The show is about Adrian who is torn between love and his principal of what constitutes freewill in a country that is supposed to be the land of the free. Is there a particular moment in this show that you really love or look forward to? Without giving away surprises, what happens in that moment and why does it jazz you? I really love the monologue of my character, Valerie, when she was telling the story of how she almost drowned and how she came to accept that her son is gay. Also the one where she's telling a story about the king and his kingdom. The idea of perspective is fascinating. Would you be willing to get a microchip implanted in your eye? Maybe. If you had ten million dollars that you had to spend on theatrical endeavors, how would you use the money? I would like to have my own theater company which focuses on putting Asian actors against the stereotypes. That means having Asian actors as lead roles in a dramatic piece or even comedy. I'd also like to introduce stories and plays from Indonesia to the American audience. We have so many great stories and rich cultures that I think are still being under-represented. Lauren Gralton grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Oklahoma for four years to attend Oklahoma City University. There she received a Bachelors in Performing Arts with a minor in History. While dance has always been her passion, lately she's been focused on becoming a true triple threat. She is so grateful that Marcus took a chance on her and appreciates the positive reinforcement from the cast. Acting is pushing her boundaries and it's exhilarating.
Where were you born? Where were you raised? Where did you go to school? I was born in Milwaukee, WI and raised just 15 min west of Lake Michigan in a well-off suburban community. I went to Brookfield Central high school and then proceeded to go to Oklahoma City University for college. What is your job on this show? My job is to portray an immigration officer and a girl who is about to get another abortion. Who are your heroes? My heroes would have to be my family. My parents and my sister are the most supportive people I know. Not only do they support the career I chose, but they accept every side of me. To the point of even eating tofu cream cheese over the regular stuff because of my food allergies. I look up to each of them in a different way and try to emulate their best qualities. What is your Zodiac sign? I'm on the cusp between Scorpio and Sagittarius, November 22. Can theater bring about societal change? Why or why not? I think that theatre can inspire social change and motivate the audience. History has proven to us that it is possible. Would you be willing to get a microchip implanted in your eye? I think I would get a microchip implanted. I would weigh the consequences of doing it versus not having it in my eye. Ultimately, if it put others and myself in danger to not have the chip, I would do it. Complete this sentence: My show is the only one opening in NYC this spring that...?
